The Hartt School Community Division is celebrating a recently received gift from the Lord Family.
Cathy and Amy Lord recently donated two professional-level C trumpets to the Division for use in the Connecticut Youth Symphony. These instruments will allow students to perform on instruments that are not usually available prior to college.
This generous gift to the Division is in addition to the The Lord Family Music Endowed Scholarship, an annual full scholarship, that is given to an HCD trumpet student who has “demonstrated a high level of talent.” The scholarship will commence in the 2025–26 academic year.
The Lord Family Music Endowment Fund was established to honor the memory of Mark William Lord ’78. Mark Lord was a graduate of The Hartt School and was a professional trumpet player who performed for many years in chamber orchestras and shows throughout the Northeastern United States, Nevada and Taiwan.
