The University of Hartford undergraduate curriculum is designed to provide students with disciplinary expertise, critical thinking skills, and opportunities for interdisciplinary learning.
Through major coursework, experiential learning, and the Exploratory Curriculum, students develop the knowledge and skills needed for success in their careers and communities.
Essential Learning Outcomes
Through their undergraduate educational experience at UHart, students develop Essential Learning Outcomes that provide the skills and knowledge needed for life after college, including:

Assessment and Continuous Improvement
The University regularly assesses student learning and academic programs to ensure educational quality, support accreditation requirements, and promote continuous improvement across the curriculum.
Exploratory Curriculum
The Exploratory Curriculum (EXC) is part of UHart's General Education requirements and gives undergraduate students the chance to learn beyond their major, explore new interests, and make connections across different areas of study. Students take courses across seven academic areas and can choose a Pathway to explore a topic from multiple perspectives.

Course EvaluationsThe University of Hartford uses a standard 4-point grading scale. Each letter is associated with a numerical quality point value.
Grading System
