Professional Development Wednesdays
As part of our ongoing commitment to reimagining excellence and strengthening campus culture, the second Wednesday of each month is set aside for faculty and staff development. From 12:45 to 2 p.m., no meetings are scheduled—this time is reserved for your professional growth.
Each month, you’ll have the flexibility to choose how you engage. We encourage you to take part in any of the University-sponsored sessions, designed to spark learning, build community, and support your goals. Space is limited, so be sure to register early!
May 13–Session Schedule
Time: 12:45 p.m.–2 p.m. | Location: Remote
This session provides an overview of writing competitive National Science Foundation (NSF) proposals, building on the session provided in Fall 2025. The workshop covers practical elements, including understanding reviewer expectations, proposal formatting requirements, project evaluation planning, and the importance of early preparation through consultation with program officers. Participants will engage in an interactive exercise involving a mock review process to evaluate a sample proposal. By the end of the session, participants will have actionable strategies to improve their proposal writing skills and increase their chances of securing NSF funding.
Time: 12:45 p.m.–2 p.m. | Location: Remote
Heat Up Your Plan is a focused session for faculty to intentionally plan for a productive summer and the year ahead in teaching and scholarship. Participants will reflect on priorities, align course design and research goals, and develop a practical roadmap for the upcoming academic year. Through structured planning and peer conversation, faculty will leave with clear strategies to advance their teaching, sustain momentum in scholarship, and balance competing demands with purpose and impact.
