Employee Vacation Balance Reminder

As we wind down the spring semester and enter the final two months of this fiscal year,  HRD would like to remind all employees to review and monitor their vacation balances. Employees may review their vacation and personal time balances in the Employee Self-Service (ESS) Center at any time.

Full-time staff are encouraged to use the full amount of their allotted vacation time before June 30, 2025.  Carryover of unused vacation into the next fiscal year is not permitted.  Any unused vacation time will be forfeited after June 30, 2025

All employees are required to enter their vacation and/or personal time in their time sheets or leave records in ESS during the pay period in which they have used the time.  Supervisors are responsible to approve this time off in ESS to ensure HR and Payroll have accurate records for employee vacation and personal time balances. 

For any employee who may have previously taken vacation time and not accurately reported this time, please contact HRD at hrd@hartford.edu and we will work with you to correct and update your records. 

If you have any questions regarding this policy, please refer to the Employment Manual (Chapter 5.02 – Vacation).  As a reminder, supervisors should make reasonable vacation periods available to their employees and supervisors can also access their direct reports’ time off balances in ESS.
