HawkPC Program

The HawkPC Program is available only to University of Hartford Faculty and Staff for institutional use.

Our student-staffed department is responsible for delivering new computers to faculty and staff.  Delivery appointments are strongly encouraged.

Please review this website before ordering a computer as our prices, models, and options change from time to time.

Please specify any additional accessories you may need for each computer you are ordering.  Accessories are listed below computer models.

If you have any questions regarding Hawk computers or wish to purchase a new Hawk computer, please contact hawkpc@hartford.edu via email.

ITS Support will:
  • Install/Setup a new Hawk PC/Mac with current or new peripherals provided appropriate drivers are still available and it is compatible with the Hawk PC.
  • Install/Setup new peripherals with existing computers only if compatible with current system configuration.
  • Install any properly licensed work related software only if current system configuration is compatible.
  • Reformat a HawkPC/Mac to ITS default standard configuration when appropriate/necessary.
  • Provide a last reasonable effort to assist with a HawkPC/Mac over 4 years old.

OTS does not support/install any version prior to Windows 7 or Mac OS 10.14 (Mojave)

Software Not Allowed on HawkPCs

There should not be non-work-related software on HawkPCs. ITS reserves the right to remove these, and others in this category, from the offending computer. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Optimizer Pro
  • File Sharing, P2P programs (Kazaa, Limewire, etc)
  • Torrent Software (BitTorrent, utorrent, etc)
  • MacKeeper
  • Weatherbug
  • AOL (full program)
  • Any "ad supported freeware"
  • CouponPrinter, Spinner, My Search Bar, Hotbar, etc

Supported Hardware

HawkPC/Mac Desktop - ITS will provide hardware repairs during the warranty period. ITS will provide labor only for additional 2 years up to five years only. ITS will help facilitate the acquisition of parts - the cost of parts is paid by the department by IDT. After 5 years, ITS offers a reasonable effort to repair with notice to purchase a new computer.

HawkPC/Mac Laptop - ITS will provide hardware repairs during the warranty period. ITS will provide labor only for an additional 1 year up to 4 years only. ITS will help facilitate the acquisition of parts - the cost of parts is paid by the department by IDT. After 4 years, ITS offers a reasonable effort to repair with notice to purchase a new computer.

Non-Hawk PC/Mac - will not provide warranty or non-warranty diagnoses or repair assistance. Will provide vendor referral contact information, if known, for departments to facilitate repair.

HawkPC Printers - ITS will facilitate warranty hardware repair during the warranty period only (usually 1 year). ITS will facilitate vendor repair for two additional years - the cost of both labor & parts paid by the department via PCard.

Note: Service contracts are available through the Procurement Dept. If the service contract is acquired, you must deal with the contracted vendor directly.

Non-HawkPC Printers - Support for warranty & out-of-warranty NOT available through ITS, we will provide vendor repair contact information, if known.

Peripherals - ITS will provide warranty & support on those items purchased through the Hawk PC Program. Peripherals acquired other than through ITS HawkPC program are the responsibility of the department to contact the vendor for support and facilitate warranty/non-warranty repairs/replacements.

Servers - Servers housed in ITS and purchased by ITS for end-user; ITS will provide warranty repair only. Non-warranty repairs are up to the end-user.

Personal Home Computers & ALL Peripherals - NO ITS SUPPORT AVAILABLE. Do not call ITS for problems encountered on a home machine or peripheral, even if being used for work purposes, unless configuring an Email client to read your UofH Email. If it is a university-issued computer via the Hawk PC program and is still considered a University Asset, ITS will provide support as if this were a HawkPC, following the above requirements. The computer must be brought into the ITS offices. We are not able to perform house calls for personally owned computers. 

Hardware Disposal

If you are disposing of your old computer, please complete the University Property/ Asset Disposal & Transfer (PDF) Form and send it to Procurement. ITS will come to remove your disposal items after Procurement has signed the form.

We do not dispose of Copy Machines, Typewriters, Fax Machines, and large printers (Over 30lbs). Please contact Facilities to have these items disposed of. 

Send this form to Procurement when the item is ready to be picked up.

Requirements

  • Please be sure to fill out all sections of this IDT, otherwise, it will be returned.
  • Please be sure that you have sufficient funds in your account.  IDTs will be returned if your budget comes up NSF (non-sufficient funds).
  • Computer and peripheral prices change from time to time, so please be sure to check out the page for the latest pricing. 
  • You must use the ITS IDT.  The standard UHart IDT will be returned if used.
  • Unless you are ordering a custom PC, you do not need to include the description or specifications of the PC in the IDT. Just indicate what PC you would like.
  • Please fill out all fields online, save your copy and then send them to hawkpc@hartford.edu or bring them to ITS-CC125.
  • If purchasing software, please specify if it is for Mac or PC
  • Do not send IDT to Accounting.
  • IDTs get updated from time to time, so be sure to check for new IDTs.

Please note: HawkPC orders will not be placed until the transfer of funds is complete.

Technology Price List

Recent supply chain issues have put a strain on everyone, including our technology vendors.
