About the Major

The Future of Media starts with you. From the stadium sidelines to the anchor's desk, we don’t just teach media—we produce it.

Prepare for an exciting career at ESPN, NBC, FOX 16, and WWE. Get hands-on training with live reporting, be a part of a buzzing newsroom, get your hands on the industry-standard gear, learn from expert journalists, and video production faculty who have spent their lives in the field.

  • Reporting Hartford - The Newsroom: Student reporters run a live local newsroom that delivers real-time video, audio, or digital coverage of events happening in Hartford.
  • The Studio: An in-house broadcast production company that develops content for streaming services and for our student-run television network (STN).
  • UH Hawks Production: A mobile broadcast studio, where you produce live University sports programming for streaming services.

3+1 BA in Digital Media and Journalism/MBA

Earn both a BA in Digital Media and Journalism and an MBA in just four years through UHart’s 3+1 program. You’ll complete your undergraduate major in Digital Media and Journalism and a Business minor in the College of Arts and Sciences by the end of your third year. In your fourth year, you’ll finish your MBA in the Barney School of Business. This accelerated program lets you graduate with two degrees in the time—and at a lower cost—it would normally take to earn one.
