Honors Program

honors colloquium
Students present their research at the annual Undergraduate Honors Colloquium.

Motivated students can participate in the ENHP Honors Program for advanced inquiry and deeper exploration in your field of interest. Intellectually curious students have opportunities to work closely with faculty members on projects that extend beyond the typical classroom experience. Faculty mentors provide scholarly challenges and support throughout the program, helping you thrive and giving you a head start in the transition from classroom to career.

The Honors Program can be completed over four undergraduate years. Requirements include:

  • 6 credits of honors sections of General Education courses (for example, the honors section of WRT 110 is HON 182)

  • 6 credits of courses in the major for honors credit. This requirement may be fulfilled by taking “Contract Honors” courses with an ENHP professor

  • 6-credit Honors Thesis, or a 6-credit independent project supervised by an ENHP faculty member

  • Deliver presentations at the Undergraduate Honors Colloquium

Additional Benefits

  • Live in a special residential learning community

  • Register for classes early through priority registration

  • Join honor societies such as Alpha Chi and Alpha Lambda Delta

  • Opportunity to present at regional conferences for honors students

To qualify for the program, incoming students must have a combined math and verbal SAT score of at least 1140 (or at least a 26 on the ACT). Incoming freshmen who do not meet those requirements may qualify for the Honors Program if they earn a 3.0 after their first semester at the University of Hartford. Transfer students who are interested in the program should contact Professor Gannotti.
