Andrew DiCianni ‘26, M’27, a 3+1 student studying accounting and business analytics as an undergraduate, will next move into the master’s degree portion of this accelerated program. He has already secured an internship at Grant Thornton as an audit and assurance intern in the firm’s Melville, New York, office.
Andrew chose to pursue accounting because he enjoys working with numbers, analyzing data, and solving problems. “I am drawn to the career opportunities and stability of the profession, especially with the CPA licensure, which I plan to pursue post-graduation,” he explains. “In addition, I come from a family with a strong background in accounting, most notably my father who has been in the profession for over 30 years. I see accounting as a way to combine my skills with my interest in business.”
What Andrew enjoys most about being a student at UHart is the close-knit community and ability to build strong connections with his professors and classmates. He says every professor is approachable and deeply invested in their students’ success, which has helped him grow both in the classroom and professionally.
UHart has prepared Andrew for his career in business by both providing a strong academic foundation and helping him develop essential soft skills. Being a member of the men’s lacrosse team has strengthened his leadership, teamwork, and time management skills, saying “balancing academics with athletics has taught me both discipline and adaptability.”
Barney has also helped Andrew develop his technical skills and expand his professional network. Through his involvement in the Sports Business Association, Beta Alpha Psi, and other opportunities to connect with professionals, he has become more confident in professional environments. Andrew also recently became a Barney School student ambassador.
Andrew notes that the BAR 211 course, with its Friday speaker series, has been greatly beneficial to his development as a student. “This class has been extremely impactful in building my professional confidence by teaching me all I need to know about résumé building, interview preparation, and networking.” Andrew explains. “Additionally, it was very beneficial to learn from professionals who shared real-world experiences and advice in the speaker series. I believe that BAR 211 played a huge role in helping me secure my internship with Grant Thornton.”
Outside of campus, Andrew loves to exercise, watch sports, and spend time with his family and friends.
