The University of Hartford will be closed for the holiday break beginning on Monday, Dec. 23, and will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 2.
During this period, the University provides paid time off for eligible employees as outlined in the Staff Employment Manual (Chapter 5.03—Holidays). The days that are not University recognized holidays will be paid based on the employee’s regularly scheduled workday(s).
Individuals will not be allowed on campus Dec. 23–Jan. 1, except to attend the home basketball game on Dec. 30, unless previously authorized.
A few things to keep in mind:
- All UHart facilities will be closed from Dec. 23–Jan. 1, including the Campus Store and Harrison Libraries.
- The Sports Center will close on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 4 p.m. and will reopen on Monday, Jan. 20 (except for home basketball games on Dec. 30, Jan. 4, and Jan. 11).
- Faculty and staff are encouraged to do a computer check prior to departing for the break to test their computer’s reboot capability.
- For safety reasons, please unplug all portable heaters.
- If you have plants that are sensitive to lower temperatures, you should take them home for the holidays.
Since the University will be closed Dec. 23–Jan. 1, it is suggested that employees set phone voicemail and e-mail auto response to indicate that messages may not be checked until Thursday, Jan. 2.
Facilities and Public Safety will monitor buildings and grounds throughout the break.
