Free Transportation & Civil Engineering Summer Camp Being Offered on Campus

Faculty and staff, do you have a high school student or know of one who who enjoys building, solving problems, or dreaming up the future of our roads and cities?

This summer, the University of Hartford’s College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture (CETA) is opening its doors to curious and motivated students for a dynamic, week-long Transportation and Civil Engineering Summer Camp—designed to ignite interest in one of the most impactful and fast-evolving fields in STEM.

Funded by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CT DOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the camp is led by Clara Fang, Principal Investigator, Professor and Chair of the Civil Engineering Department, along with Song Wang, Co-Principal Investigator, Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering. Their initiative aims to introduce students to civil engineering through immersive, hands-on experiences.

Camp participants will explore core areas of civil engineering such as transportation systems, structures, geotechnics, construction, and environmental sustainability, through engaging lessons taught by college faculty and industry professionals. Students will also be introduced to cutting-edge technologies including artificial intelligence, drones, and sensors. The program features interactive workshops, real-world field trips, and mentorship from practicing professionals.

Camp Dates:

  • Session 1: July 7–11, 2025
  • Session 2: July 14–18, 2025
    Cost: FREE

High school students interested in engineering, problem-solving, and imagining the future of infrastructure are encouraged to apply early, as space is limited.
