Getting Started

For sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have not applied yet—we have highlighted some action items for you to consider as you navigate the college admission process.

Interested in learning more about UHart? Fill out our online request form. We will add you to our mailing list so you receive our viewbook, information about open houses, and information about our scholarships. The form will ask about your interests, intended major, and extracurricular activities. That’s so we can send you information tailored to your interests and talents. We suggest providing us with a personal email address like Gmail, Yahoo, etc. instead of your high school email address so we can communicate with you throughout the application cycle.

You can learn a lot about the University of Hartford by exploring our website. Read about our programs of study, student organizations, dining, and more. Discover us! Not sure where to begin? Check out Why UHart?.

UHart is unlike any other college. We’re encased in 350 beautiful acres of trees and green space, and offer the opportunity for you to turn your passion into a profession. You have to see it to believe it. We encourage you (and your family) to visit our campus and see what we have to offer. While on campus you might meet faculty and staff, mingle with students and even have a coffee in the Library’s Starbucks. There’s much to see and learn about what makes UHart so great.

Not able to visit us in person? We have a number of virtual opportunities to explore like College Readiness 101 and UHart 101.

Application Basics

Are you a senior or transfer student ready to take the next step? We've highlighted some of the steps you should take to apply to UHart.

You can apply for admission to the University of Hartford beginning Aug 1 before your senior year or as a transfer student the term before your intended enrollment term. UHart accepts early action (Nov. 15 deadline) and rolling admission until programs are full. Health profession majors, music theatre and actor training programs tend to fill quickly and early.

Early action carries a few primary benefits including: waiving of the $35 application fee, a quick admission decision once all supporting documentation is received, and maximum financial aid and scholarship consideration.

Deadlines:
  • Early action candidates apply by Nov 15. This is non-binding.
  • Rolling admission is available until programs fill (programs fill quickly so don't delay).
  • To begin the Orientation, registration, and housing processes, students should submit their deposit as soon as possible but no later than our priority deadline of June 1*
*The University of Hartford has extended the priority deposit deadline from May 1 to June 1 for all incoming Fall 2024 undergraduate students.

The University of Hartford awards more than $95 million in scholarships and grants each year.  We recommend that you file the Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) before Feb 15 for maximum UHart financial aid consideration. UHart’s code is 001422. A copy of your FAFSA Student Aid Report will be sent to UHart after you file online so we can put together your financial aid award. Any student who completed the FAFSA will be reviewed for institutional, federal and state aid programs.
