Office of Equity and Opportunity Seeks Process Advisors

SEX AND GENDER-BASED DISCRIMINATION, VIOLENCE, AND HARASSMENT PROCESS ADVISOR (volunteer role)

The Institution is building a roster of trained Advisors able to work with Complainants and Respondents

Process Advisor means a person chosen by a party (complainant or respondent) or appointed by the institution to accompany the party to meetings related to the resolution process, to advise the party on that process, and to conduct cross-examination for the party at the hearing, if any. The parties may each have an Advisor of their choice present with them for all meetings and interviews within the resolution process, if they so choose. The parties may select whomever they wish to serve as their Advisor as long as the Advisor is eligible and available. Advisors appointed by the Institution will not be asked to disclose details of their interactions with their advisees to Institutional officials.

Time Commitment

  • The Office of Equity & Opportunity attempts to schedule as many hearings as possible between normal business hours: Monday-Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. However, it occasionally needs to schedule hearings at other times.
  • Annual training is required for all Advisors. This training is offered typically during the winter break or as new Advisors are appointed.
  • Advisors are required to attend any additional training resulting from evolving state and federal requirements and case law.
  • Continuing education sessions may be offered throughout the year, and all Advisors are encouraged to attend.
