Farewell to Steph Brown

It is with a mix of emotions and a congratulatory spirit that the Office of Sponsored Programs is saying goodbye to its current Assistant Director of Pre-Award Services, Steph Brown, EdD. Steph has accepted a new role at Washington County Community College.

Over the past year and a half, Steph has played a primary role in engaging faculty members with external funding opportunities, helping to prepare grant budgets and other key materials, and serving as an authorized official representative for numerous funding applications. Steph has always led with a can-do attitude and has gravitated toward opportunities to work with faculty in a variety of capacities including helping to form a cohort of folks interested in AI and research. Additionally, as a trained architect, Steph has enjoyed engaging with UHart students by teaching occasional courses in the architecture department.

Steph is excited for her next adventure where she will become the Dean of Academic Affairs for Washington County Community College in Maine. At WCCC, Steph will combine her talents and professional work experiences to oversee faculty and academic departments while also enforcing academic policies, fostering professional development initiatives, seeking grant opportunities, and supporting strategic partnerships. Steph has noted the difficulty in leaving the UHart community, as it is the place she has called home for working and completing her doctorate; however, she is also excited for this excellent leadership opportunity.

The Office of Sponsored Programs encourages all community members who have worked with Steph to wish her well on this new professional journey. Her last day at UHart is Tuesday, Nov. 25. Best wishes, Steph!
