This spring, you have the chance to design a writing experience that works best for you. Pick and choose from several options—whether you want focused time for your own projects, small working groups, or regular check-ins for accountability and support.
These opportunities are about helping you devote time to yourself and your writing in a way that fits your style best. From structured in-person sessions to flexible autonomous formats, you can customize your experience to make progress and feel connected. Based on your input, here are the options for spring 2026:
Writing Challenges
Writing challenges are best for writers looking to build momentum, overcome blocks, or finish a specific project in a dedicated timeframe. They provide structure, accountability, and a sense of community, but are also completely autonomous. We will hold a writing challenge each month during the spring semester with the goal of devoting 500 minutes to writing. Participate for one month or several. You can start with one and add more later. You choose the length and level of intensity based on your needs.

Writing Retreat
The spring writing retreat will take place in-person on the last Friday of every month, January through May, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Writing retreats provide an opportunity to step away from daily obligations and focus solely on writing during designated times. They offer structure, networking, and collegial support to make writing feel less isolating.
The dates for all of the sessions are Jan. 30, Feb. 27, March 27, April 24, May 29.
These sessions are capped at 12 participants, and you must be able to attend at least 4 sessions to enroll.
