Dream Murals: Public Art with Hartford Art School Alumni

March 3 – April 12, 2025
Silpe Gallery
In this community-focused exhibition, we give over the gallery walls to six alumni of the Hartford Art School to paint their dream murals. Working in public art, muralists often bend to the wishes and desires of their clients. At the same time, murals can be collaborative projects in the best of ways—an opportunity to tap into a community and give it visual expression on a large scale. This exhibition creates an opportunity for alumni to take what they have learned from these experiences and to share lessons about the transformative power of public art with the next generation of artists at the Hartford Art School.
Artist Panel & Closing Reception: Friday, April 4, 4-6 p.m.

MEANDERS / MEANDRE: Romanian Artists in CT

May 30 - June 28, 2025
Silpe Gallery
What experiences mold and erode our paths? What do we carry with us, what do we leave behind? What journeys have marked us, unfolding in our art?
Through works of varied scale and media, our group of Romanian-born artists practicing in the Northeast U.S. and in Romania invites the audience to step into the space where our paths unfold together. Using structure and pattern, binding or flowing geometries, shifts in rhythm and dimension, existing and new work will frame the journey as the destination.
MEANDERS includes work that connects us across the geographies and time of our individual practices, from specific cultural roots, real places and characters, to stories, fantasy, and immersive assemblies of color and pattern.
The exhibit is organized by RoArtConn, a workgroup of Romanian artists collaborating to increase the visibility of the artistic contributions and achievements made by Romanian artists in America.
MEANDERS / MEANDRE brings our paths together in the second public show organized by our group, a stage for renewed collaborations and new explorations in divergence and affinity.
