Tabbi oversees public services for the University of Hartford's Allen Library (music and dance collections). Her responsibilities include library instruction, outreach, website development, library system development, staff and student worker supervision, statistics reporting, and other related duties.
Tabbi earned her doctorate in music history from the University of Connecticut, following it with a Master of Library Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University. She is also a three-time Hartt School alumna, where she studied clarinet with Charles Russo and wrote a thesis on Anthony Gigliotti, principal clarinetist of the Philadelphia Orchestra for a record 47 years.
After graduating from The Hartt School, Tabbi maintained her connection to the school, teaching a number of music history classes. Her favorite class focused on the history of bands and band music in the United States from 1750 to 1950. She also taught music history and woodwind methods courses at the University of Connecticut, and Central Connecticut State University.
Tabbi has held librarian positions for Central Connecticut State University and for Connecticut State Community College on the Asnuntuck and Capital campuses. She continues to serve as a reference librarian for both the West Hartford Public Library and the Avon Free Public Library, and as an instructor for CSCC, where she teaches College and Career Success.
