Key housing dates vary by your year and status. Check the timeline below for dates that apply to you.

Exact dates and reminders will be communicated throughout the year via your UHart email. 

Summer 

  • Housing Application Opens: February 2 
  • Application Deadline: June 15 
  • RLC Application Deadline: May 17 
  • RLC Decisions Sent: Late May 
  • First-Year Roommate Selection Deadline: June 20 
  • First-Year Housing Assignments Sent: Early July 
  • Move-In Sign-Up: Late July 
  • First-Year Move-In: August 20–21 
  • Your specific move-in date and time window depends on your housing location and whether you attend Orientation in June or August. 
Returning & Transfer Student – Additional Dates 
  • Application Priority Deadline: March 24 
  • Lottery Number Distribution: March 25 
  • Roommate Group Creation Window: March 25–April 12 
  • Room Selection Window: April 13–April 24 (based on enrollment year, group status, and lottery number) 

Fall / Winter 

  • Fall Room Changes Begin (All Students): Second full week of classes 
  • Thanksgiving Break Soft-Close (All Students): Saturday before Thanksgiving at 10 a.m. 
  • Dining on campus closes Friday before at dinner. 
  • Winter Closing (All Students): 10 a.m. after last day of finals 
  • Dining on campus ends at dinner the day before. 
  • RA Application Process Opens: After Thanksgiving Break 

Spring 

  • Spring Opening (All Students): Third week of January 
  • Spring Room Changes Begin (All Students): First full week of February 
  • Spring Break Soft-Close (All Students): Saturday prior to Spring Break at 10 a.m. 
  • Dining on campus ends at dinner the day before. 

May Closing & Graduation 

  • May Closing / Campus Closes (All Students): Day after finals end 
    • Graduating students may remain on campus until the day of graduation.
