Barney senior, Anthony Gomez, will be starting a full time position in Financial Management and Consulting at KPMG in New York City directly after graduation. He received this opportunity as a result of an internship he did in the summer of 2019 combined with the support, hard work, and opportunities in which he engaged at Barney School of Business.
He originally got the internship opportunity through a Career Ready event at the Barney School his freshman year. After connecting with the recruiter at the end of a "Dress for Success" event, Anthony says that “one email lead to another and I ended up with an internship in financial consulting which eventually turned into a full time offer.”
Gomez says, “UHart helped me by initiating their Career Ready events each week. Beyond this, I learned useful skills such as how to build a resume, how to develop a strong LinkedIn account, as well as many other soft and hard skills.” In addition, Anthony participated in the 2018-2019 & 2019-2020 Spencer RIMS Risk Management Competition. This combination of classroom learning, extracurricular activities and utilization of his resources set Gomez up for his future successes.
“My favorite thing about UHart has been the leadership opportunities that I've had the chance to partake in. I feel like a Big Fish inside of a small pond,” Anthony says. He describes his overall experience at UHart as “very good”. He wants to remind students that “time is money, so don’t waste it.” Spoken like a true finance major!
