lauriehaggan.pngLaurie Haggan, acquisitions specialist at Harrison Libraries who joined the University of Hartford staff in 2004, died on Wednesday, April 19.

Haggan spent all 19 years of her employment at UHart working in the library setting, starting as technical services specialist, becoming University cataloger in 2007, and then acquisitions specialist in 2015.

"Those who worked closely with Laurie know that the world is dimmer today without the joy and kindness she brought with her every day," says Ben Ide, head of resource and metadata services at Harrison Libraries.

Interlibrary Services Coordinator Christy Bird adds, "People may not have ever met Laurie face to face, but if they’ve used any database, journal, or book at the library within the last 19 years, they’ve reaped the benefits of the time, effort, and expertise she put into doing her job well. Those of us who had the pleasure of working with her will see her fingerprints all around us for many years to come.”

Visitation will be on Monday, April 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Dinoto Funeral Home in Mystic, Conn. Funeral Services will be at the same location on Wednesday, April 26, at 11 a.m. with burial following at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
