On Monday, Oct. 14, we celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day, a federally-recognized holiday (alongside Columbus Day) to honor all Indigenous peoples who have lived on and stewarded these lands for more than 12,000 years, long, long before Europeans arrived.

Educate yourself about Indigenous history and culture. You can start by visiting our pages on the University of Hartford’s website. Read some Indigenous novels, follow Indigenous news, support Indigenous artists and businesses!
Familiarize yourself with our UH Land Acknowledgement. Consider adding it to your email signature or syllabus, sharing it with your community, or reading before or after a meeting or event.
