A new king of pop is coming to town.
Six years after he graduated from The Hartt School, Jamaal Fields-Green ’18 is returning to the community in a major way. Fields-Green will perform the title role in MJ: The Musical on its national tour, with performances at The Bushnell from Dec. 10–12, Dec. 14 (evening performance), and Dec. 15 (matinee).
Fields-Green is well known to national tours, as he previously played John Laurens/Philip Hamilton in the national tour of Hamilton. Earlier this summer, he stepped into the role of Michael Jackson from his previous role as the MJ Alternate. Fields-Green is also the only actor to play MJ in all three global productions of the musical: on Broadway, in the national tour, and in London.
MJ: The Musical focuses on the creative mind and collaborative spirit that catapulted Michael Jackson into legendary status. The Tony Award-winning musical is centered around the making of the 1992 Dangerous World Tour. It was created by Tony Award-winning Director/Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage.
Fields-Green will also give a masterclass to Hartt students on December 10. After teaching a group of aspiring actors, he’ll answer questions in a Q&A session.
