We are thrilled to announce the opening of the Mathematics Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Community Library, a new initiative by the Department of Mathematics at the University of Hartford. Inspired by the Biochemistry Equity Library at Mount Holyoke College, a leader in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts across all areas, our Mathematics EDI Community Library aims to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
Date: Feb. 7, 2025.
Location: Dana Hall (second floor study area, between Dana 204 and Dana 208)
The use of the library are based on the honor system. There is a QR code if you would like to borrow a book and get a reminder from us when it is time to bring it back. There is also a suggestion/comments form for everyone to have an opportunity to share what they read about or what they would like to see in the library. We would love to hear from you.
The Mathematics EDI Community Library will serve as a dedicated space for resources that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion within the field of mathematics and education. Our collection includes a variety of books that highlight the contributions of underrepresented groups in mathematics and education.
We are proud to announce that this initiative is sponsored by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics EDI Agents Program, which supports efforts to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion in the mathematical sciences.
We invite all members of the University of Hartford community to stop by and check out the new library.
We look forward to seeing you there and working together in creating an inclusive environment for all the members of our community.
