Barney Students Gain Valuable Insights at Project Management Networking Event

The Barney School of Business recently hosted a dynamic networking event in partnership with the Southern New England Chapter of the Project Management Institute (SNEC-PMI), a longtime collaborator and supporter of our students’ professional growth.

Held on Sept. 29 in the Stanley Black & Decker Atrium, the evening brought together more than 20 pairs of students and project management professionals for five rounds of one-on-one “speed coaching” conversations. These fast-paced, highly engaging discussions gave students the opportunity to learn directly from certified project managers and industry leaders about the competencies and experiences that drive career success across a variety of fields.

After each round, students shared their takeaways, from practical career tips to strategies for navigating the workplace with confidence. Many students also continued their conversations after the sessions, making new LinkedIn connections and expanding their professional networks.

In addition to the speed coaching, students connected with professionals before and after the formal sessions, building meaningful relationships that will last beyond the event.

Special thanks go to Chris Zack for organizing a fantastic program, and to faculty members Vicky Luo, Daphne Berry, and Narendar Sumukadas for attending and supporting the event. We also extend our gratitude to the two Business Leadership Council (BLC) students who volunteered to assist with logistics. Their efforts ensured the evening ran smoothly.

Events like this highlight the power of partnerships, especially with organizations like SNEC-PMI, who generously share their time and expertise with our students. By engaging with professionals in real-world conversations, students gain invaluable insights and career readiness skills that will support them in their next steps.
