Students in the Barney School of Business’ Facilities and Event Management class got an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at one of Hartford’s newest sports venues—Dunkin’ Park, home of the Hartford Yard Goats. The visit was arranged by course instructor Christy Miller and led by Tim Restall, President of the Hartford Yard Goats, who personally guided students through the stadium. Over the course of an hour-long tour, students explored spaces rarely seen by fans.

"We are focused on providing our sports management students opportunities to experience the sports industry in a number of ways, including within the industry itself.” said John Papa, director of the sports management program. “Professor Miller provided her Facility and Event Management students an impactful, personalized, in-industry learning experience.”

The field trip is just one example of the hands-on learning opportunities available to students in UHart’s Sports Management program, part of the Barney School of Business. The program blends business fundamentals with real-world industry experiences, preparing students for careers in professional and collegiate sports, event management, recreation, and more.

With partnerships across the region, UHart’s sports management students gain a competitive edge in a growing industry.
