REVISED: Due to weather, the University will open today at 1:30 p.m. Classes will begin at 2 p.m.. All classes starting at or after 2 p.m. will meet as scheduled. Classes of 90 minutes or less starting before 2 p.m. will not meet in person. Classes longer than 90 minutes that usually start at 2 p.m. will meet at 2 p.m. if 50 or more percent of the scheduled class time remains. WHAT IT ALL MEANS. Online and remote courses are not affected by campus closings and will meet as scheduled. Please note that when a campus closing prevents an in-person class from meeting at its scheduled time, professors may opt to conduct classes or provide assignments online. Students should check Blackboard and their email regularly to learn of any alternate arrangements. LEARN MORE.

Honors Contracts

Are you an honors student looking to get 3 honors credits this semester? You can turn a class you’re already enrolled in into an honors class by submitting and completing an Honors Contract. For an Honors Contract, students typically do a research paper, presentation, or creative project on top of the regular coursework.

Here is the process:

  • Identify the course you’d like to do a project/paper in, and formulate an idea for the paper/project;
  • Get creative with the project—explore your passion;
  • Speak with the course instructor to get their approval for the paper/project;
  • Complete the form, found here, by Friday, Sept. 19;
  • Make sure to only use the instructors @hartford.edu email address;
  • Work should be equivalent to ~10-15 written pages;
  • Be specific about what you plan to do (plans may change—that’s okay!);
  • Stay in touch with your instructor to be sure they received and completed the request for approval;
  • Work on the contract throughout the semester, it's due the final week of classes (students must receive a B or higher in the course).

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your Honors College Coordinator, or the University Honors Director, Dr. Schoenecker at schoeneck@hartford.edu.
