This October, UHart celebrates the 80th anniversary of the National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). This month is a time to recognize the positive impact of people with disabilities in the workforce and to reaffirm our commitment to creating an inclusive and accessible learning environment for all. Accessibility benefits everyone, and we all play a role in building a campus where everyone can thrive. Let us work together to ensure that access, inclusion, and belonging are foundational in everything we do.
As we strive to create an inclusive campus, we commit to amplifying all voices, and fostering a community where everyone belongs. The Office of Inclusive Excellence and Belonging encourages everyone to further explore the resources below to engage with National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Campus Resources:
- Disability Awareness Network (DAN): The mission of the Disabilities Affinity Network is to engage the University of Hartford community and raise awareness through support and discussion related to the promotion of equal opportunities and the elimination of barriers for persons with disabilities.

Celebrating Heritage Months and Identity Recognitions:
Throughout the year, UHart commemorates national heritage months and identity acknowledgments. These recognitions are an opportunity for members of our community to continue learning and engaging in meaningful programming that recognizes, examines, and values the many identities that make UHart a strong community. Through programming like community spotlights, guest speakers, and panels, we foster an inclusive community at UHart.
