It’s a chance to witness opera history in the making. 25 singers will take the stage at The Hartt School, competing for the opportunity to ascend to an even bigger stage: the Metropolitan Opera.
The Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition brings together thousands of up-and-coming young opera singers across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. UHart has hosted the Connecticut Region competition for a number of years.
The “best of the best” will be selected by a panel of distinguished judges to receive cash prizes and advance to the New England Region competition in Boston.
Some of today’s greatest singers got their start in the auditions, including Renée Fleming, Susan Graham, Stephanie Blythe, Eric Owens, Lawrence Brownlee, Lisette Oropesa, Jamie Barton, Michael Fabiano, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Ryan Speedo Green, and Nadine Sierra.
You’re invited to support these young artists and witness opera history in the making!
