Please join us at the poster session on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 2:30 p.m. in the Shaw Center to hear our quantitative analysis students presenting their work on their water projects. Snacks will be provided!
The water projects focus on the measurement of alkalinity and hardness of water and the quantitation of selected inorganic analytes (ions and metals) in water samples obtained from various sources across Hartford area (rivers, ponds, springs, tap and bottled water) using a variety of spectroscopic, electrochemical, and titration methods.
In this multi-week project, student groups will present the analyte compositions of these water samples in the context of a hypothesis formulated regarding the nature of the samples (types of water samples, origins, etc.) and assess the methods used to acquire the data through statistical analyses and comparisons. The presentation of data will include both qualitative and quantitative assessments.
