REVISED: Due to weather, the University will open today at 1:30 p.m. Classes will begin at 2 p.m.. All classes starting at or after 2 p.m. will meet as scheduled. Classes of 90 minutes or less starting before 2 p.m. will not meet in person. Classes longer than 90 minutes that usually start at 2 p.m. will meet at 2 p.m. if 50 or more percent of the scheduled class time remains. WHAT IT ALL MEANS. Online and remote courses are not affected by campus closings and will meet as scheduled. Please note that when a campus closing prevents an in-person class from meeting at its scheduled time, professors may opt to conduct classes or provide assignments online. Call for Certification Materials

Students graduating for Summer 2025 seeking certification from the State of Connecticut are asked to submit their certification materials no later than Jan. 9. Please see the below attachments for more information:

Students eligible for applying for Connecticut teacher certification are:

  • Early Childhood or Early Childhood/Montessori (Undergraduate and Graduate - initial certification)
  • Elementary Education (Undergraduate—initial certification)
  • Integrated Elementary/Special Education (Undergraduate)
  • Secondary English and Secondary Mathematics (Undergraduate) 
  • Music Education (Undergraduate) 
  • School Psychology (Graduate) 
  • Special Education (Graduate—initial certification)
  • Professional Pathways (Early Childhood, Graduate – students can apply for certification after they complete the 18 credits for this program, even if the student is still working on completing the masters)

All required paperwork should be typed and emailed to to Certification Officer Chris Stuck at certify@hartford.edu.  

Please note: Graduate students in the Special Education Cross-Endorsement program will apply for the Special Education endorsement directly with the State of Connecticut. Montessori students will apply for certification through the State; AMI diplomas come directly from AMI.
