Save the Date: 2026 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Observance

The University of Hartford invites you to honor and celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 12:45 p.m. in Lincoln Theater.

This year’s theme is "Strength to Love, Courage to Act". Inspired by Dr. King's seminal work Strength to Love, the 2026 observance centers on his charge to lead with compassion, moral courage, and an unwavering commitment to justice. The theme underscores the importance of love in action—love that strengthens communities, confronts inequity, and empowers individuals to act with purpose and conviction.

Keynote Speaker:

We are honored to welcome Jay Williams, president and CEO of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, as our distinguished keynote speaker. A respected civic leader and champion of equitable community investment, Mr. Williams will offer insightful reflections on Dr. King's enduring teachings and their profound relevance to the social and economic landscape we navigate today.

Our annual observance provides an opportunity for our community to pause and reflect on the work and impact of Dr. King, while recommitting to the goal of showing empathy, respect, and understanding in an effort to create a better world.
