Hartt PhD candidate Hamidreza Niknampour has published an article in the Philosophy of Music Education Review, with co-author Armita Hooman from the National Union for Democracy in Iran.
The paper is entitled Vocal apartheid: Structural violence against women’s singing by the Islamic Republic of Iran and outlines the means through which the the Islamic Republic of Iran regime has prohibited women from singing in public spaces and the impact of this policy on music education and gender equality.
