Remembering Rao Singamsetti

photo of Rao SingamsettiRao Singamsetti, PhD, longtime professor of economics at the University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business, died peacefully on March 31.

He joined UHart in 1974 and spent more than four decades shaping the minds of countless students in economics, finance, and quantitative methods. Known for his deep knowledge, patient teaching style, and commitment to academic excellence, Singamsetti left a lasting mark on generations of Hawks. Following his retirement in 2016, he was recognized with professor emeritus status.

An accomplished scholar, Singamsetti published widely in applied econometrics and co-authored the textbook Introduction to Quantitative Methods in Business (Wiley, 2016). With his wife, Andallu, he also established an endowed scholarship at the Barney School to support future business students.

A beloved figure among colleagues and students alike, Singamsetti will be remembered for his intellectual spirit, kindness, and dedication to community.

Calling hours will be held Friday, April 3, from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by traditional Hindu prayers and cremation services at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor, Connecticut.
