The University of Hartford’s College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture (CETA) welcomes several new faculty members who bring extensive academic, professional, and research expertise to the college. Their diverse backgrounds in architecture, structural engineering, electrical and computer engineering, sustainability, and emerging technologies will strengthen CETA’s commitment to hands-on education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative research.
Dr. Fahimeh (Paria) Yavartanoo joins CETA with expertise in structural and architectural engineering, computational modeling, experimental investigation, heritage conservation, advanced construction materials, and digital fabrication. She earned her PhD in Architectural Engineering from Seoul National University and previously taught and conducted research at The City College of New York. Her research explores seismic performance, sustainable construction, 3D-printed concrete, funicular structures, and innovative structural systems.
Jeremy Adam Hill, an architect, educator, and founder of Happy Haus Design, brings more than 25 years of experience in architectural practice, design, development, digital fabrication, and construction. His Stamford-based practice focuses on contemporary residential architecture and high-performance building, incorporating Passive House principles and building science into the design process. A registered architect and Certified Passive House Consultant, Hill has taught in UHart’s Department of Architecture since 2023 and brings his professional experience in design, materials, construction, and sustainability into the classroom.
Dr. Reza Assasi joins the Department of Architecture as an Assistant Professor, bringing more than two decades of experience in architectural practice and education. He holds a PhD in Architectural History and Theory from McGill University and is a licensed architect in Ontario, Canada. His expertise spans architectural history, theory, design, practice, and architectural technology, allowing him to connect historical and theoretical inquiry with contemporary architectural practice and design education.
Dr. Ashish Mahanta joins the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as an Assistant Professor following the completion of his PhD at Southern Illinois University. His research focuses on hardware security and low-power technologies for resource-constrained Internet of Things (IoT) devices. His work has appeared in leading IEEE and ACM journals, and he also brings industry experience from TDK InvenSense. At UHart, he is establishing the Secure and Intelligent IoT & Embedded Systems Lab, which will explore hardware security, edge AI/ML, and ultra-low-power sensing technologies.
