True Balance Allergen Friendly and Kosher Station

The University of Hartford's Fig & Honey station is transitioning to True Balance, a dining concept that will continue to provide kosher meals while also offering a menu free of the top eight food allergens: milk, eggs, wheat, soy, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, and sesame.

True Balance features complete meals that are gluten-free and AllerCheck™ certified, ensuring strict food safety protocols are followed to minimize the risk of allergen cross-contact. All ingredients are verified, and preparation procedures are carefully monitored to maintain the highest standards of safety and quality.

Fin fish will also be offered while maintaining top eight allergen-free standards.

We will continue to provide meals through the SmartSheet ordering system for guests with fish allergies or for those who prefer an alternative when Fig & Honey is closed. SmartSheet ordering will also be available during Fig & Honey's closure from Friday after lunch until reopening on Monday for lunch.

While the station will introduce an entirely new menu, it will continue to operate as a kosher dining venue. Mashgiachs, Shimone Bollinger and Stuart Snyder will continue to oversee kosher compliance and will assist with food preparation and service, ensuring that both kosher and allergen-free standards are maintained.

This transition expands the station's ability to serve students with diverse dietary needs while preserving the trusted kosher dining experience valued by the campus community.
