Barney First-Year Students Ring in Their First Year at Opening Bell Ceremony

The Barney School of Business welcomed its newest students with a special tradition on Friday, Sept. 11 as first-year students gathered for Barney’s Opening Bell Ceremony, “Ring the Bell,” in the Auerbach Stanley Black & Decker Commons.

Designed to mark the beginning of their Barney experience, the ceremony gave first-year students an opportunity to come together as a class, celebrate the start of their college careers, and officially ring in what promises to be an exciting journey at the University of Hartford.

The event also highlighted the many opportunities for involvement beyond the classroom. Representatives from Barney’s student clubs and organizations were on hand to introduce students to the communities, activities, and leadership opportunities available throughout the school.

Following the ceremony, students had the chance to connect with their classmates, faculty, staff, and student organization leaders while enjoying pizza together.

With the bell officially rung, Barney’s newest students are ready to begin their journey—building connections, discovering their interests, and putting their purpose to work from day one.
