University of Hartford basketball legend Vin Baker returned to campus to help cut the ribbon on the new outdoor athletics and recreation complex that bears his name, bringing his journey full circle in the place where it began.
“This is my place,” Baker said, as he stood at the center of the complex’s new basketball courts, surrounded by some of his former Hartford Hawks teammates and many of the alumni whose generosity made the new facility possible.
Media were also in attendance; the ceremony was covered by NBC Connecticut, WTNH, the Hartford Courant, and other outlets.
“I’ve done a lot of wonderful things in basketball and in life,” Baker said, “but this is the most extraordinary thing that’s ever happened to me."
