What is the Hartford Consortium?
Hartford Consortium cross-registration begins on December 1 for the spring semester and on May 1 for the fall semester.
The Hartford Consortium is a cross-registration program that expands course selection. It allows University of Hartford students to take classes at neighboring schools and students of participating Hartford Consortium institutions to take courses at the University of Hartford.

- University of Saint Joseph
- UConn Hartford

Cross-Registration by Group
Full-time undergraduate students who are currently enrolled may register for up to two courses each academic year—one in the fall semester and one in the spring semester—at a Hartford Consortium member institution. There are no tuition, registration, or technology fees charged by the Hartford Consortium host institution; however, all other costs, such as transportation, books, and any special fees (lab, film, music fees, etc.), are the responsibility of the student. It's advisable to confirm course eligibility and any additional fees with the host institution's Registrar's Office.
Incoming full-time undergraduate students at participating member institutions may also enroll in up to two courses each academic year: one in the fall semester and one in the spring semester. Tuition, registration, and technology fees are waived for these courses, but similar to outgoing students, all other costs (books, lab, film, transportation, music, special fees, etc.) are the student's responsibility. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to space availability.
Only the first 15 students who fully complete the cross-registration forms will be allowed to register each semester. Any registrations beyond this limit will incur charges to the student’s home institution at half the part-time tuition and fee rate of the University of Hartford. Approval from both the home institution and the University of Hartford is required for these additional registrations.
The University of Hartford does not allow cross-registration for graduate-level courses.
Full-time employees of Hartford Consortium member institutions may enroll in up to three undergraduate courses per calendar year (one per semester: fall, spring, summer, or winter). Employees must submit a Hartford Consortium Employee Remission form signed by their immediate supervisor and HRD. All fees other than tuition are the employee's responsibility (i.e., registration fee, lab, film, music, technology fees, books, transportation, etc.).
Full-time employees of Hartford Consortium institutions receive a 10% discount on graduate-level tuition and a waiver of the application fee.
Additional Information
- Each Consortium institution has its own guidelines that determine which courses are available.
- Academic calendars vary among Hartford Consortium institutions. The student is responsible for becoming familiar with the Hartford Consortium host institutions' vacation periods, the last day to withdraw from a course without penalty, and other pertinent calendar dates.
- Check with the Hartford Consortium's home and host institution's Registrar's Office to confirm course eligibility. Each Hartford Consortium member has special requirements and/or restrictions that determine course eligibility.
- Always confirm that a course will be accepted for credit at the Hartford Consortium home institution.
- Occasionally, special permission is required from the Hartford Consortium host institution instructor. In these circumstances, students should obtain the instructor's contact information from the Hartford Consortium host institution Registration Officer to request special override permission from the instructor.
- Full credit is given for passing grades. All grades and credits are "in residence"; consequently, a student's G.P.A. is affected at the home institution.
- Special permission from the home institution is required for courses taken on a pass/no pass basis.
- Complete a Hartford Consortium cross-registration form; a separate form is required for each course.
- Obtain the signature of the Registration Officer of the Hartford Consortium home institution.
- Complete an institutional registration form. ID number and advisor signature are not required at the University of Hartford.
- Submit completed forms to the Hartford Consortium host institution where enrollment is being sought. Registration procedures and deadlines of the Hartford Consortium host institution must be followed.
- Registration changes (add, drops, and withdrawals) must be reported to both the home and host Hartford Consortium institutions.
- Send a copy of the completed Hartford Consortium cross-registration form to the Registrar's Office of the Consortium home institution.
- It is not recommended that seniors anticipating a spring graduation cross-register during the spring semester, as there may be a delay in transferring grades between Hartford Consortium institutions.
- Hartford Consortium cross-registration begins on December 1 for the spring semester and May 1 for the fall semester. All registrations occur electronically on regular business days and hours. To maintain registration equality among all University of Hartford students, the following dates are strictly enforced; therefore, Hartford Consortium cross-registration requests will not be processed prior to the posted dates.
