Hawks Hired Before Graduation
Amanda built storytelling, interviewing, and management skills as news director of UHart’s student-run television station, STN-2, while gaining real-world newsroom experience through internships at News 8 in New Haven, CT and The Rhode Show in Providence, RI. A digital media and journalism major with a communication minor, she secured a multimedia journalist role at KMVT in Twin Falls, Idaho.
As part of the Electromechanical Engineering Technology program, Caden built technical problem-solving skills in UHart’s innovative labs and makerspaces while gaining leadership experience as a member of the men’s soccer team and the National Society of Black Engineers. These are some of the opportunities that allowed him to confidently step into the workforce and launch a career at Eversource.
Lexi gained clinical experience and patient care skills through UHart’s health sciences program, including a phlebotomy course that helped prepare her to pass a national certification exam and land her first healthcare role at Middlesex Health. Supported by faculty mentors and immersive learning opportunities, she is building a strong foundation for a future career in medicine.
A pivotal internship with Connecticut-based Marionette Management cultivated valuable industry connections for Stephen, who gained hands-on artist management experience from artist development to entertainment law. A music management and guitar major, he turned that internship into a full-time artist management and development role with the company, putting his career in place before graduation.
A double major in communication and digital media and journalism, Daniela sharpened her communication and storytelling skills at Crested Communications, UHart’s student-led PR/marketing agency, while building leadership and organizational skills off campus with her sorority, Delta Gamma. Combined with her classroom learning, those experiences helped prepare her to land a full-time role at Travelers before graduation.
Carlie spent 30 weeks student teaching at the University of Hartford Magnet School, working in both first-grade and special education settings while applying her coursework in real classroom environments. An integrated elementary and special education major, that fieldwork and classroom preparation helped her secure a special education teaching position at R.D. Seymour Elementary School before graduation.
Daniela Fortuna ’26, College of Arts and ScienceAt first, I wasn’t entirely sure which path I wanted to take, but my major helped me explore different directions and discover where I fit best. These experiences taught me how to adapt, lead, and step outside of my comfort zone. They helped me walk into my first day of work feeling confident.
