Your service can make a huge impact.
Whether you are looking to help for one day or are committed to a longer service experience, the University of Hartford’s Office of Student Engagement and Inclusion can help. Take ownership over your service experience by reaching out directly to our extensive list of community partners.
Annual Community Service Programs
As part of our commitment to helping communities in need, UHart students have the opportunity to participate in an Alternative Spring Break. This is an alternative to the "traditional" spring break and immerses students in a community while they perform a week of service projects. Alternative Spring Break not only provides meaningful service opportunities, but also deepens connections to peers and the communities we serve.
For more information, contact the Office of Student Engagement and Inclusion.
Giving Tree is an annual program that provides holiday gifts to clients of local non-profit organizations. Each year campus community members are invited to select an item (or items) from the Giving Tree to provide a requested gift for a member of our local community through one of our partner organizations.
Helping Hawks is our annual day of service, when students, staff, faculty, and alumni join local community partners to assist in service projects. We offer approximately 20 different service sites in the Greater Hartford Area and encourage alumni around the country to find service sites in their local communities to join in the effort.
Brittany Peck, ‘15Not enough good words can come from me about the Alternative Spring Break program, as it has truly made an impact not only on who I am as a person, but who I am as a student at the University of Hartford.
