Experienced Captain Joining University Public Safety
The University’s Public Safety continues to assess and improve upon our focus on a community-oriented public safety model.
Changes we have made to our department have been well received inside and outside the University. Recently, Assistant Chief Nealy and myself had the opportunity to present to a group of local business executives, faith-based leaders, not-for-profits and several state representatives. Universally they applauded the changes we have implemented in Public Safety and some have asked that we share our approach with their local law enforcement organizations.
Even with the progress being made, our goal will continue to be raising the benchmark. We recognize that we need to develop our depth in the discipline of public safety, through our focus on professional standards, policies, practices and command strategies. To do so, we will continue to work on our operational updates and command restructuring.
To that end, I am pleased to announce that Mike Davis will be joining University Public Safety in the role of Captain.
Mike joins us from the Connecticut State Police, where he was the second highest ranking command officer for the entire department. Mike most recently served as Lieutenant Colonel and Commander over Field Operations, which included the major crime squad, narcotics, emergency services, counter-terrorism, and the largest field troops. Previously, Mike served as Major and Commander over Professional Standards and Support Services. Earlier in his career, Mike served as Captain and Commander of recruitment, training and support services, and as a detective in undercover operations assigned to the state-wide narcotics task force. He is well known by town selectmen across the state for developing partnerships with towns and cities in our geography, and has received high marks for his collaborative, engaged, and community-oriented police methods. His community-based assignments included the Hartford Street Task Force initiative.
Mike holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Connecticut and a Masters in Criminal Justice from Western Connecticut State University. He is a graduate of both the FBI and DEA law enforcement leadership programs.
Please join me in welcoming Mike to UHart. We look forward to further advancing our model of community engagement while protecting and serving the University of Hartford.
Thank you,
Michael Kaselouskas
