Where Community Happens
Living on campus is where you build real connections, develop as a leader, and create memories that last. The Office of Residential Life offers a unique experience through intentional learning outside the classroom—supported by Resident Directors and Resident Assistants who help you grow socially, academically, and personally.
Get involved in programs and events, connect with peers, and become an integral part of the UHart community.

Keeping Hawks healthy is our number one priority. The Division of Student Success provides several resources to keep the campus community healthy and safe, including an on-campus medical facility, counseling and psychological services, and wellness programming. We are here to provide students with resources that allow them to do their best.
Leadership & Learning
Our Resident Directors and Resident Assistants lead and support our residential community by embodying our HAWKS values: Honesty, Advocacy, Wellness, Knowledge, and Safety.
Through their leadership and intentional programming, they create spaces where students develop academically, socially, and personally.
Resident Directors (RDs) are full-time professional staff members who oversee the residential experience, management, and operation of a residential area.
RDs collaborate with the Division of Student Success (DSS) and academic partners to promote residential engagement and learning and support students' social, personal, and academic success.
RDs supervise area RAs and help them create active, engaged, and inclusive communities. They also connect students to campus resources; clarify policies; serve as a campus hearing officer; address residential concerns; and partner with Aramark Facilities to resolve facility-related concerns.
Residential Life staff members are available to meet with students during normal business hours or by appointment.
Resident Assistants (RAs) are returning student leaders who serve as students' first point of contact on floors or in buildings. RAs play a vital role in developing active, engaged, and inclusive communities.
RAs do this by interacting with and facilitating interactions between residents; connecting students to campus resources; completing administrative tasks; facilitating community meetings; mediating conflicts; facilitating ongoing community developmental activities and programs; enforcing safety measures in cooperation with Public Safety; and using duty responsibilities to shape positive student behavior.
At UHart, we educate students through our HAWKS standard: Honesty, Advocacy, Wellness, Knowledge, and Safety.
These aren't just words on a wall—they're how we actually live together. Residents experience these values through intentional programming, community events, conversations about what matters, and wellness activities that build skills and strengthen relationships.
Honesty:
UHart Hawks uphold the highest standards of honesty and integrity. We value academic integrity, ethical decision-making, and transparency—because trust matters. When you act with integrity, speak truthfully, and take responsibility for your actions, you help create an environment where everyone can actually learn, grow, and succeed together.
Advocacy:
Hawks stand up for one another. It's that simple. Advocacy means using your voice to support others, challenging discrimination when you see it, and taking action to build a community where everyone belongs. Respect, inclusion, and equity aren't ideals—they're how we show up for each other every day.
Wellness:
We prioritize wellness in all its forms—physical, mental, and emotional. It's about making choices that support you, leaning on your community, and using the resources available. A healthy you means a healthier community.
Knowledge:
Curiosity doesn't end in the classroom. Lifelong learning is a core value of the Hawk community. Knowledge is about asking questions, staying open to new perspectives, and growing beyond what you already know. Your residential community is where some of the best conversations happen.
Safety:
Hawks look out for one another—period. A safe community is built on respect, accountability, and awareness of how our actions affect others. When everyone commits to that, we create a space where people can truly be themselves and thrive.
